T'anu ʔIšɨmiʔ is rooted in Indigenous land stewardship and community care in the Tahoe Basin. Hosted by Washiw Zulshish Goom Tahn-Nu (Washoe Warrior Society), this gathering supports our programming and advocacy across three pillars:

  • LandBack in the Tahoe Basin: advancing Indigenous sovereignty, land stewardship, and rights of nature

  • Youth Leadership & Mentorship: investing in the next generation of stewards

  • Traditional Ecological Knowledge: honoring and practicing the wisdom of the land, and food as medicine

About this event

Join us at Mountain Lotus on Sunday, August 2nd for the Mountain Lotus Summer Speaker Series, a day of free community offerings, workshops, book talks, signings, and discussions.

The day after the T'anu ʔIšimi – Indigenous Community Gathering, this special event invites the community to continue the conversation through a full day of learning, connection, and reflection. Artists, activists, authors, chefs, and educators will come together to share stories, ideas, and perspectives centered on culture, community, food sovereignty, environmental stewardship, activism, and social change.

Guests are welcome to attend one offering or spend the full day with us. The Mountain Lotus Food Truck will be open and serving food throughout the day, and books will be available for purchase at the Truckee studio, with all book sale proceeds benefiting the Washoe Warrior Society.

We invite you to join us for a meaningful day of conversation, community, and collective learning.
