Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How do I prepare for class?
    • Come fully hydrated —- drink lots of water before and after class
    • Come on an empty stomach
  2. What should I wear to class?
    • Very light workout clothing (shorts and tank top or sports bra for women, shorts and optional t-shirt for men)
    • No baggy pants or sweats, please! (They just get in the way)
    • No excessive jewelry
    • Please leave valuables at home
(Mountain Lotus Yoga is not responsible for lost or stolen items)
  3. Why is it hot? We heat the room to help you:
    • Increase cardiovascular workout
    • Increase elasticity of the muscles
    • Improve lung expansion capacity
    • Flush toxins from the body
    • Reduce the signs of aging by replenishing skin cells
    • Burn 680 calories per class (That’s a minimum! If you work hard, you’ll burn even more!)
  4. What should I bring, and what should I expect from my first yoga class?
    • Bring a yoga mat, a large towel and a bottle of water.
    • We encourage you to buy your own yoga mat, and keep it clean by airing it out and spraying with tea tree oil and water mat cleaner.
    • Bring a change of clothes — it gets sweaty in the studio and you don't want to leave with a chill!
    • Expect encouragement from all those around you (we've all been to our first yoga class).
    • Expect all ages, and all body types (yoga's not just for skinny, flexible people). Remember that yoga makes you more flexible and helps you lose weight.
    • Expect to work hard, have fun, sweat, smile, laugh and discover an entirely new energy within yourself.
    • Hot yoga is slow-paced so you can follow along, but not so slow that we lose your attention.
    • Each hot yoga class follows the same sequence of postures and breathing exercises so you see real improvement fast, yet no class ever feels the same.
    • Beginning and advanced students practice side by side.
    • At first the heat may be challenging, but within the first week your body will adapt, and you'll grow to love the healing and detoxifying powers of the heat.
    • Since hot yoga is a form of moving mediation, expect to become centered and calm as we gracefully guide you through a powerful, safe, and effective practice each time you enter the room.
    • Our certified instructors have nothing but love to give, and are happy to answer any questions you may have.

We rent yoga mats and towels for $2 each/class. Bottled water and coconut water is also available for $2 each.
